Instructor Bios

Burke Allen
Burke Allen is one of the original instructors from when the doors opened in 2000. Burke's a radio station owner in his home state of West Virginia, where he now operates several stations in area communities where he grew up. But before getting to this stage of his career, Burke made stops at stations in Las Vegas, Savannah, Atlantic City and here in Washington, D.C. Burke is getting his license as a private plane pilot – which should help him with the horrendous traffic in D.C.!

Albie Dee
"It's Me, It's Me, It's ..." Albie Dee has been a local radio legend for 20+ years in D.C. and Baltimore - from WPGC to HOT 99.5 to the old Jammin' Oldies to WXVY, and now on 94.7 The Globe and Baltimore's The Mix. Albie is an original instructor at CSB School of Broadcasting - Arlington, VA, from when we opened the doors in the summer of 2000. And he is extremely proud to tell anyone that he is a CSB School of Broadcasting grad from 1983!

Diane Roberts
Diane Roberts can be seen nearly every night on FOX5-TV, usually covering sports but also filling in as a news anchor and reporter. The one word which best describes Diane is "tough." She places the bar in her classes very high because, as she puts it, "If I set the bar down here, then that's what I'll get out of my students." Diane covers the Redskins for FOX5-TV.

Elliott Francis
Elliott Francis is one of our brand-new instructors here in D.C., sharing his experience as an anchor and reporter for ABC7-TV. Before coming to D.C., Elliott was probably well-known to our students and grads in Boston, where he won several local awards during his career there. With a resumé that includes a stop at the FOX Network in L.A., Elliott's experience is as imposing as his nearly 6'5" frame.

Herkules
Herkules is truly a local celebrity, heard on WPGC 95.5. But you probably have seen him all over BET-TV hosting its College Tours throughout the year. Herkules is a straight-shooter, telling our students exactly what broadcasting is: a business. He helps our student body navigate the broadcasting biz while making them realize that they are not in his class . they are beginning a career.

Karen Ryan
Karen Ryan has crashed through the glass ceiling as she brings her experience as a former Producer/Correspondent/Reporter for ABC's World News Tonight with Peter Jennings. Karen's style of teaching is to: 1.) Have fun; 2.) Expect to be the best; and 3.) Have fun. She has been known to sing and dance to Amy Winehouse occasionally.
