Director Bio

Steve Williams
Steve's broadcasting career spans some 25+ years and has gone full circle, bringing him back to where all his radio dreams began: as a 1972 CSB School of Broadcasting graduate from the Hartford (Farmington), CT, location. Steve had the passion for radio early on and attended CSB School of Broadcasting as a senior in high school with his goals set on making it in radio.

Like many professionals in the broadcast industry, Steve was able to take on many challenges and wear just as many hats. He got his feet wet early on helping produce a show on WWUH-FM (Univ. of Hartford) and also doing some music research work for a local-area, Oldies-formatted program. Steve landed his first steady gig in Springfield, MA, at WMAS-AM/FM, working some weekend and evening shifts. Shortly after that, he was named the midday host on WMAS-AM and later became the Program Director helping the station to a No.1 position in the market with a nostalgia format.

After a few years in Springfield, Steve moved to the Boston area (1993) to work for WPLM-AM/FM, based in Plymouth, as Operations Manager and Afternoon Drive Talent. Later, Steve moved into the morning drive slot. Then in 1996, Steve went to WOAZ-FM, The Oasis, to be their Afternoon Drive Talent and eventually Assistant Program Director. While there, the station changed call letters to WSJZ-FM, and Steve was named host of the morning show. From there, Steve entered into the Providence, RI, radio market (1999) at WSNE-FM for a short stint as midday host.

During most of this time in radio, Steve was also an instructor for CSB School of Broadcasting in Hartford (Farmington), CT, and the Boston-area CSB School of Broadcasting, at that time located in Wellesley Hills, MA, giving back to the school that helped him get his start. In 1999, Steve was given the opportunity to become the Director of the Boston-area location and has been there ever since. The School just recently moved to it's new facility in Needham where you will find Steve overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility along with helping students and grads realize their dreams in broadcasting. As a grad himself, Steve understands what it takes, what CSB School of Broadcasting has to offer and how CSB School of Broadcasting can help.

"I believe that we truly have a tremendous staff and program here at CSB School of Broadcasting for the Boston area. We have been in this major market area for over 23 years so our network is huge, and the level of training by the broadcast professionals we have from the Boston market is incredible. Add to that a staff that cares and a great new facility, and CSB School of Broadcasting is hard to beat and the only place to 'get connected.'"

Steve has also been active in the community as a Trustee, past Board President and Vice President with the Massachusetts Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and has also chaired the Advocacy Committee. Steve currently resides with his wife Terri south of Boston. They are empty nesters but travel as much as they can to visit their 10 grandchildren who live literally from coast-to-coast from Hawaii to Massachusetts.
